Tricount vs Splitwise: which free splitter fits your group?
Tricount is the better free choice if you log a lot of expenses: its site says "Free. No ads. No limits." and currency conversion is included. Splitwise's free plan limits how many expenses you can add each day and shows ads; unlimited expenses, conversion and receipt scanning are part of Splitwise Pro. When should you pick Tricount?
- You log a lot. A long trip or a busy household can pass three to five expenses in a day, which is where Splitwise's free plan reportedly stops.
- You travel. Tricount includes currency conversion; on Splitwise it's a Pro feature.
- You don't want ads and don't want to pay to remove them.
When should you pick Splitwise?
- Your group is already on it. Familiar apps get used; asking everyone to switch has a real cost.
- You log only a few expenses a day, so the free limit rarely matters.
- You'll pay for extras Splitwise lists in Pro: receipt itemization, charts, search and, in the US, card transaction import.
Do you need a bunq account to use Tricount?
Nothing we read says so. tricount.com promotes a bunq card alongside the app, but it also says you can "try tricount without signing up." If you only want to split expenses, the card is optional.
Is there a third option?
